1.Introduction

Welcome to rinnalla (“we,” “our,” or “us”). rinnalla is a mobile application designed to help parents and caregivers prepare their children for reading by providing suggested exercises and activities that parents can do with their children.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using rinnalla, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2.Who This App Is For

rinnalla is intended for use by parents and caregivers, not by children directly. The reading exercises are designed to be facilitated by an adult with a child. The app is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at the email address below so we can take appropriate action.

3.No Account Required

rinnalla does not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personally identifying information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use the app or access its content.

4.Information We Collect

Even though no account is required, we collect a limited amount of technical and usage information automatically when you use the app:

4.1 Analytics and Usage Data

We use third-party analytics services to understand how the app is used and to improve it. These services may collect:

  • Anonymous usage data (which screens are viewed, which exercises are opened, how long sessions last, feature interactions)
  • Approximate geographic location (typically country or region, derived from IP address)
  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • A randomly generated, non-personal identifier used to distinguish devices for analytics purposes

4.2 Diagnostic and Error Logs

We collect technical diagnostic information to identify bugs and improve app stability, including:

  • Crash reports
  • Error messages and stack traces
  • Performance metrics (load times, responsiveness)
  • Device hardware and software characteristics relevant to troubleshooting

4.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Photos, videos, audio recordings, or contacts
  • Precise GPS location
  • Information about children using the app alongside their parent
  • Payment information (the app does not process payments directly)

5.How We Use the Information

We use the limited data described above only for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve rinnalla
  • To diagnose and fix technical problems and crashes
  • To understand which features and exercises are most useful so we can build better content
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or security issues

We do not use the data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

6.Third-Party Services

We rely on third-party providers to deliver analytics, crash reporting, and related operational services. These providers may receive the limited technical and usage data described above in order to perform those functions on our behalf.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy and security practices. We have configured these services to minimize the personal data collected wherever feasible.

7.Data Retention

Analytics and diagnostic data are retained for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, typically no longer than 14 months, after which they are aggregated or deleted in accordance with our analytics provider's settings.

8.Children's Privacy

rinnalla is designed for adult use. We comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR-K”), and similar laws by:

  • Not directing the app to children under 13
  • Not knowingly collecting personal information from children
  • Limiting analytics collection to non-personal, device-level data

If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us at the address below and we will promptly delete it.

9.Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding the data we collect, including the right to access, correct, or delete it, or to restrict or object to processing.

You can also:

  • Opt out of analytics by disabling analytics collection in your device's settings or by uninstalling the app
  • Reset your advertising/analytics identifier in your device's privacy settings
  • Limit ad tracking through iOS or Android system settings

To exercise any rights you may have under applicable privacy law, contact us at the email below.

10.Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we collect against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11.International Users

rinnalla is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside this jurisdiction, you understand that your information may be processed in that jurisdiction, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

12.Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, if the changes are material, provide a more prominent notice within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
